how we move????

Hi guys, below i have in co-oporated a basic moving schedule! can you have a look and tell me of any adjustments etc we should make! and any other points to discuss!

i'm gonna post up a topic for the pre-lim part first! (right now infact)

Moving Steps:

Prelim – Trip for who wants to go, to view island with Mac and D’verado!

Step one: Dragonrider’s to and find wood to build rafts to move weyrlings (and beasts!) and those dragons unable to fly far!!! (Action: Dragonriders, Weyrlings and crafters)
- A small group to fly from island straight to ‘map’ in minds the way to island for these rafts!

Step Two: Move infirmary – making sure supplies available for raft, for izuko and for igen. (Action Healers, dragonriders and crafters) – may be in important to ensure that a healer goes with supplies to izuko, and a healer goes with the craft., with Shayna – control and communication at Izuko,

Step Three: Move lower caverns supply – food etc, pots and pans. Ensuring cover for three areas.

Step Four: Move basic’s from the crèche, and set up a crèche site at Izuko, Children not to be moved yet!

Step Five: Put up of basic living quarters/tents etc. Move Candidates over to help with construction. Dragonriders to help building (too and fro between izuko and igen). Movement of most lower caverns staff.

Step six: sailing of rafts from closest point on north Cont. – reduction of travel distance. (All weyrlings and dragons unable to fly far, or between! HAD to join journey to help with communication. – adult dragons to take shifts to help with ‘protection’ of the rafts! – how many do we need?

Step Seven: Movement of Creche Children on dragonback – to stay with crèche not parents for the time being.

Step Eight: Rest of Igen weyr to be transferred across… including own weyr items!

Step nine: Settling in and ‘building’ 

Final Step: Arrival of rafts!

How do we move the Whers we currently have?

..was thinking the rafts, anyone else have any ideas??


as for the crafts i was thinking that there should be 'shifts' of supervision from flying dragons above the crafts the entire way, maybe two hour shifts and 4 dragons at a time? just to help with the weyrlingmasters who won't be able to fly the entire way themselves either without stopping.. and there's no where much to stop over the ocean..

...Flightless dragons will be on the rafts, i/e Ritith and V'yel.. but the rota wise, i'll think about later!

working in shifts sounds like a good idea to me. that way everyone is guarded.

the whers would probably go on a raft although we would have to make sure there was somewhere dark they could go or else make them goggles to put on to protect their eyes.

Do we want a Journeyman Healer to stay at Igen until the last bunch moves? I think 'Master'/'Headwoman' Eodira would be among the first bits of Infirmary to move to Izuko. Or would Eodira be better on the rafts and a Journeyman at Izuko and another at Igen?

I think, since we should have around 100 adult dragons able to fly steady (gotta get my numbers sorted out!) we could probably have a whole wing flying shifts of thirds or halves with the rafts...

Can our whers fly at night? If so we can have them jump Between at night to get there. If not, we can go with Sorra's idear, though I think Caleke and his blue would be going with the rafts for Healing's sake as he specializes in dragonhealing and his blue is so tiny...

good point, we could have them between at night.

...as for the wings accompanying the weyrlings, a whole wing would be too many with the moving happening too.. i'd say about 4/5 dragons to guide at a time, although i guess how many would depend on how many rafts are used.

Lemme crunch some numbers and I should have a head count of how many would be traveling by which route. c:

We have 22 Weyrlings restricted to short flights. The rest can Between. So we know those 22 Weyrlings, V'yel, and anyone restricted from Betweening due to health reasons would need rafts to land on periodically on the straight flight trip.

There's probably 40-50 herdbeasts, but I'm thinkin' there should be 2-3 times more due to our dragon numbers bein' just below 200 in total. Any thoughts on that?

There's probably 20-30 runnerbeasts in the stables.

And what are we guessin' our Lower Caverns numbers are?

I think those numbers will give us our Between/Raft numbers needed. c:

Well...for Lower Caverns...I know that I've got something like 20 people if you include children and npcs...I'll get a real number at some point soon.

I kow the Lower Caverns would have the highest number of NPCs and that would be the biggest question as to how they transferred from Igen to the new Island. I'm guessin' there would be somethin' like a third of the Weyr's population involved in the Lower Caverns?

Yes, the LC would have a lot of non riders, they would move before the riders do...rider's ferrying them and their belongings across before moving their weyrs... moving is ging to be a length process!!

....now that we've decided to have a clutch from Authanth, i'm gonna have her move first before she is too egg heavy! There is a reason for this sudden include, and all will be obvious when the plot planned gets into action!!

Erm...what's the time-line for this? I mean, a day or two and the dragons could realistically have moved everyone who didn't have a dragon but could fly. How long would the rafts take to get there do we think?

Also...how much of the actual structure of the Weyr exists? Like...how much construction is gunna have to happen?

Oo Oo Also J'dol used to be a Seacrafter...and his family is traditional enough that they wouldn't hate the Weyr. They could totally help with building and sailing the rafts if need be.

okay! J'dol's family can help with the rafts.. and i'd say that their progress would be long..
...we obviously have to build the rafts first.. i'd say they'd be at sea a couple of sevendays at max.. with dragon's doing shifts to 'acompany' - maybe i should get a timetable up for that??

i'd also say that the move takes a couple of sevendays as not much is built at Izuko, they'll all move over as soon as possible, but keep going back to collect other things, that solves the problem of lack of water.. so for two sevendays there will be a lot of coming and going
...do we think that is ok? or too long?
