History:
Born to Shearalet a trader 20 turns ago. Tesheara started life travelling with her mother, older brother and younger sister. Although they have a father, their mother never speaks of him, except to say that he is a raider. Despite this, Shearalet has raised her children well, passing on the importance of good manners, hard work and the ability to do a good deal.
Letesh, Tesheara’s older brother now runs the family caravan and is head of the family, (due to absence of the father) leaving their mother free to deal with the antics of the youngest child Coralet. The whole family travel together in a train of 12 caravans, selling their wares as they pass through the many cots and holds on their annual migratory route; meaning they can often be found at specific holds and cots and certain times of the year, usually coinciding with annual hold gatherings.
Whilst at the annual spring gather at Nerat a series of events occurred that changed Tesheara’s life forever. Nerat’s gathers are well known for being ruckus, lively affairs due largely to the lord holders liking for wine, women and good food. He is also a man you did not say no to, short in temper with a reputation for dealing out harsh punishments to those that crossed him. Nerat’s gathers always had an underlying air of uneasiness. It was at one of these gathers that the lord holder set his sights on 20 turn old Tesheara.
It was the second evening of the gather when the lord holder made his move on Tesheara as she was passing the stables on the way back to the caravans. His intentions frighteningly clear as he forced her down in the straw. After all no one refused the lord holder!
Tesheara knew she couldn’t best him physically but she wasn’t going to let this happen without a fight. Growing up on the caravan had taught her a thing of two about defending herself. Forced to the ground with the lord holder pinning her wrist to the floor so tightly it would later leave bruises she struggled violently; until a harsh slap across her face caused her to stop moving, leaving a sharp burning sensation across her left cheek where the lord holders ring had left a deep gauge. She was pretty sure she could feel blood starting to run down her face. But this was not the time to get distracted! In order for the lord holder to have hit Tesheara, he needed to of released one of her wrist. With her arm now free she shoved him off of her and getting to her feet, slammed her knee as hard as she could muster into his groin. The lord holder gasped in agony and rolled away from her doubled up clutching his balls.
Tesheara made a break for the door only to be halted by the hold stewards who had heard their masters pained cry. Recovering his composure but now very much out of patients the lord holder advanced on the trapped Tesheara. He struck her so hard that Tesheara’s world span before she collapsed to the ground, hitting her head hard. Satisfied, the lord holder instructed his stewards to remove her lifeless body and dump it in the ocean as far off shore as they could. Even if the blow hadn’t killed her, throwing her unconscious body into the sea certainly would. No one refused him…ever!
So as the grey light of dawn pierced the sky a small wooden boat could be seen rowing out across the bay. It paused briefly on the horizon before slowly making its way back to shore. It would be several hours before Tesheara’s body would wash up on the rocky shore of a remote island. She was alive, but only just.
***
Washed up on Izuko Island and found by the GlassSmith brothers K'lar and Tia'ar on a routine sweep of the island, she spent the first few days in the infirmary suffering from memory loss. Still no clearer on who she is or where she came from and struggling to cope with hearing disembodied voices in her head. It wasn't till the hatching of Authanth's last clutch that Tesheara discovered it was the dragons she could hear. Given the temporary name Tish, she is starting to settle into her new life at the weyr and make use of her HAD abilities.
