Persona information (Last Updated: December 15, 2010)
Name: B’gran
Age: 26 (Birthdate: 1138.03.20)
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Rank: Wingrider
Birthplace: Telgar Hold
Family: Mother: JM Healer, Nadril, deceased
Father: JM Healer Yuvor, deceased
Brother: B’dren, Bluerider, 21 (Deceased)
Sister: Bresala, Greenrider, 23
Signifigant others: Son: Weyrbrat Brelah, 4, Izoku
Personality: B’gran will speak when he is spoken to, but only when he has something to say. When he has nothing to say, he has the wisdom to say nothing: a faint smile and a shake of the head is the extent of his conversationalism. Meaningless words never escape his full, oft-cracked lips. Many people find themselves drawn to him, for reasons unknown even to them, to ask him for advice on everything from careers, to selecting pets, to personal relationships; he usually has something to say, in that soft, gentle baritone, that ends up being wonderfully helpful...or something that would be wonderfully helpful if the world worked the way it ought.
Often his advice works out. Although many idealists are often forced away from their optimistic naiveté by real life, things somehow always work out for B’gran. Although he's never really had a serious relationship, everything works out. All of his brief involvements terminated well and he remains on good terms with all of the gentlemen in question. It's difficult not to like B’gran...or at least, it's difficult to actively dislike him...upon getting to know him.
The one time he will say something that is unnecessary is when he’s teasing his sister. He and his brother B’dren will often tease Bresala about pretty much anything. It is then that his sense of humor shows through. He had become a bit more vocal in his opinions when he had been forced to deal with being Kiala's Wingsecond. He still didn't say anything more than he deemed necessary.
In the time after the disaster, B'gran has taken comfort wherever he could find it. Often he would find any reason to spend some time with his sister, the only family he has left. He's begun to open himself up more to others as well. He is worried that if something were to happen to Bresala, he'd end up completely alone. Because of that he's started to befriend more people around the Weyr, trying to form actual bonds of friendship with others.
Physical description: B’gran is a little shorter than most men, but not dramatically so, with a decently muscled build that speaks more of his years as a glorified drudge in candidacy, and his current position as a dragonrider, than generous genetics. He has an open, friendly face, with warm hazel eyes, that invites others to trust and share their problems with him. His thick, dark blond hair is generally cut short like his brother’s.
History: Begran was born to Journeyman healers Nadril and Yuvor stationed at Telgar Hold, the oldest of the couple’s eventual three children. He was a lively little baby, constantly exploring and making his parents run to keep after him, but generally good natured. And then his brother came along. It was almost a Turn before he stopped asking his parents to send Beodren to the Weyr (a place the toddler had heard about, but never seen- so it had to be very far away), and by the time Bresala was born, he’d reconciled himself to the necessity of siblings.
Begran got along better with his brother as they got older, though they did fight as kids do –some brotherly squabbles, some shrieking fistfights. As he got older, he found other interests, including his harper lessons. They opened him up to the big world beyond Telgar, and though he was only eight, he decided he wanted to be a Harper. But like most children, decisions like that change. Whenever he would learn about a different new craft, he would decide that was the one for him.
So when it came time for him to actually apprentice, he still hadn’t decided. He had narrowed his choices down to tanner, harper, smith, or beastcrafter - and was spared the decision when a blue dragon came in Search for Telgar. Seeing the opportunity for adventure, he accepted when he was Searched, and went off to the Weyr to start his tenure as a candidate.
Well he stood, and stood, and stood some more. Turns went by without a dragonet for Begran, so he kept his hands and mind busy with his candidate chores. He also began taking lessons from the Weyr’s journeyman tanner, an older fellow who loved anyone who showed an interest in his craft. Though he never formally apprenticed, secure in his optimism that he’d Impress eventually, he learned a lot about tannery from the man.
He greeted the arrival of his sister to candidacy with joy, pleased that he had some family in the Weyr now. Begran was proud of her subsequent Impression at her first hatching, and looked forward to his own even more.
It never came, though, and a Turn later he would be glad for it, when Telgar’s dragons began dying. He had faith, though, that his sister’s green would be okay, And she was. Through the family illnesses that followed, Begran tried to help in any way he could. And when all was said and done, he mourned his parents and Telgar’s dead and departed, and began looking toward the future again. He supported Bresala in her decision to go to Tristar, not able to bear the idea that death would win, that the Weyrs and dragonkind would end. And so he continued as a candidate at Tristar with the same implacable optimistic spirit as before. They had had a tough time convincing Beodren to join them, but he did.
Begran’s patience finally paid off when brown Shocoth came running up to him at Tristar’s first hatching. Shocoth will require a lot of work in the turns to come, but B’gran knows he was worth it. At the same Hatching, his brother also Impressed. They were a family of dragonriders.
B’gran was made Wingsecond to the brownrider Kiala after he graduated. Kiala was, quite obviously, inexperienced. There just weren’t enough experienced dragonriders anymore. That was fine, except that Kiala started to defer to the bluerider P’an in everything. B’gran began to feel that he really was only Wingsecond in name. In fact, it felt to B’gran that P’an was actually the one leading the wing, and that bothered him. If Kiala thought she couldn’t be a suitable Wingleader she should just step down. Or if she felt P’an would be a better Wingsecond she should at least have spoken to B’gran about it. He was well aware she couldn’t promote P’an as Wingsecond; the Weyrleader at the time would never stand for a bluerider being of higher rank than a brownrider. But B’gran still felt that Kiala could have at least explained herself to him and confided in him about her worries. After all, that was part of what being Wingsecond was about, helping the Wingleader.
On the day of the arrest of the Weyrleaders, B’gran and Kiala were in disagreement about how to handle it. However, at the end of it Kiala had actually discussed the issue with B’gran and had made her own decision as how to act to the arrest and trial. B’gran was hopeful that Kiala was becoming a better Wingleader and that she would finally start to treat him as an actual Wingsecond, instead of P’an.
A couple months before the Hatching, Shelah’s Cocelith rose and Shocoth chased and caught her. A few weeks later Shelah came to B’gran and informed him that she was pregnant. He was elated; he’d never imagined that he’d be a father. He and Shelah developed a friendship and B’gran planed on being very active in the child’s life.
Although B’gran voted against the Weyrleaders at the trial, he was completely fine with being moved to Wingsecond of Fire Dancers. He believed that T’jas makes a good Wingleader, just a bad Weyrleader. He was also hoping that working with T’jas would be a better experience than when he was in the Wind Breakers wing.
When M'cleod became Weyrleader B'gran was no longer Wingsecond of Fire Dancers, but B'gran didn't find that to be much of a problem. Of course every Wingleader would want his own Wingsecond, and this was especially true of the Weyrleader. He's glad he is still in Fire Dancers wing, working with the Weyrleader.
Shelah's death while giving birth to their child, Brelah, was very difficult for B'gran. While he would never love Shelah like a husband does a wife, he had begun to really care for her. He spends as much time with Brelah as he can, especially after the forced move from Tristar.
On the day of the disaster, B'gran was able to help evacuate people and he hoped his siblings and friends were alright. When he went to Igen for the last time and sought out his family, he found out that B'dren had bee knocked unconscious. For the first few days B'gran was hopeful that his brother would wake up. But as the days turned into sevendays, B'gran knew that it was only a matter of time before B'dren passed.
In the turns since B'dren and Shelah's passing, B'gran has focused on becoming a bit more open with people around him. He doesn't want to end up friendless and alone should something happen to his sister.

Dragon information
Name: Shocoth
Age: 7
Colour: Brown
Weyrling Group: Phoenix Fire
Wing: Fire Dancers
Birthhome: Tristar
Sire/Dam: Bronze Macnith/ Gold Calirth
Personality: A rather timid dragon that keeps himself to himself, and will barely even talk to his rider, though now that trust has grown between them he does speak to his rider more. He really does love his rider; he just doesn’t express it by talking. He isn’t a confident dragon, he needs all the encouragement that he can get. However as he’s grown he’s come to be more confident than he was as a hatchling.
Physical description: Shocoth would tell you he’s boring, holding no hues or shades in his brown hide, and as far as descriptions go it’s true. But how can a dragon from such an exciting egg be classed as ‘boring’ To observers his hide may just be wooden brown all over, but to someone who loves him and sees the best of him, you can see that Shocoth’s hide is actually two toned and ever so slightly patchy that maybe your eye’s are playing you up.
