Family: Mother: Nilbora, 46, Sr JM Farmer, Benden Hold

Twin Brother: N’nes, 26, Wingsecond, Izuko
For extended family see “S’ov’s Family Tree” in album: s448.photobucket.com/albums/qq208/hrn212/
Personality: Shibora can be, at times, a bit rebellious. She needs to do things a bit differently from everyone else around her. When she was younger she described it as wanting “more.” She wanted to do “more” than just be a farmer, and just get married, and just have children. She couldn’t stand the idea that she might end up living the exact same life as her parents. She equally couldn’t stand the thought of having the same type of life as any of her friends, even those her own age. She knew that most of Pern ended up in the same craft or running the same hold as their parents or siblings, but she didn’t want to. She craved something else; she needed to get to know and understand anything that was “other.” Her rebellion was often in equal force against her peers as against her parents.
This rebellious nature is just increased with her need for adventure and a very active imagination. This doesn’t mean she was constantly wandering around Benden. She often satisfied her need by talking about other places and other people. She also enjoyed reading, even dusty old records. They might not be the most interesting, but they were all about a different time. She would read about the every-day workings of the Hold and would come up with amazing stories to go with them. She only occasionally wrote them down, and she has kept those with her over the turns. When she came to Tristar she stopped doing this, since she was not actually engaged in her own adventure. Shibora still has a very imaginative personality. She can create quite intricate stories, and is pretty good at telling them.
Shibora is also an extremely curious young woman. She asks all sorts of questions, even if they don’t pertain to being a rider. This is part of why she started the family records; she just has to know where all of her extended family is located. Her curiosity led her to spend most of her time with the elderly members of her family, so she gets along better with them than with people her own age. This is true in the Weyr as well. She tends to get on better with anyone old enough to be her grandparent than she does with any of her peers. She just finds she understands older people better.
Physical description: At 5’9,” Shibora is a bit tall for a woman, and has the musculature of a dragonrider. She is quite tough looking to anyone who hasn’t spent much around riders. She has a long nose and pale skin, much like her brother. And much like her brother, her skin has become tan from living at Tristar. Her hair is the darker brown, curly hair of her mother. She keeps it extremely short, but on humid days it can still look quite frizzy. Shibora has plain brown eyes a few shades darker than her brother’s.
History: Shibora is the second child of two farmers at Benden Hold. Her younger, Nilnes, brother was born just a few moments after she was. Though the two shared the womb, they share little else. Even in their childhood, the two didn’t get along. Their personalities clashed whenever they were in each others company. While Nilnes went to the Vintner Hall to play with their extended family, Shibora stayed at Benden.
Instead of playing with children her own age, Shibora preferred to listen to the older members of her family tell stories. She listened while they talked of their own brothers and sisters. Shibora learned all the stories and names of most of her extended family. When she grew older, she started to look through the records to fill in the blanks those she talked to didn’t know about. She now keeps her own records of the family, who is related to who, and who’s had children or been handfasted. Once she moved to Tristar and met Golinna, a distant relative of hers, she started keeping track of Paryna’s family as well. Shibora now has working family trees of everyone in both families; it’s become a hobby of hers. She has even sought out those of her own family that have returned to the Weyr. She’s even been in touch with some of those in Paryna’s family that have come back to Tristar.
But before she ever went to Tristar, and before she even started making her own family records, Shibora chose a craft. Still at Benden Hold, her choices were actually quite numerous. She wanted to be a harper, partly because it was so different, and partly because it suited her wish to learn about her family’s history. However, Shibora has no musical ability. So, for no reason in particular, except that she didn’t want to be a farmer, Shibora chose the baking craft. She thought that was one of the most useful, and perhaps one of the most transferable crafts. Bakers were needed everywhere. While Shibora wasn’t particularly talented at the craft, she was adequate enough.
When the Plague hit, Shibora was well aware of the fact that she had extended family at some of the Weyrs and that some of them would lose their dragons. She’d met his father’s cousin, Sh’dar, on more than one occasion, and of course had heard many stories about him from others in her family. When the news came that Sh’dar’s dragon had died, and that Sh’dar had quickly followed, Shibora grieved heavily. Shirda, her grandmother’s sister on her father’s side also lost her dragon, but Shirda did not follow. Shibora was faced, for the first time in her life, with her own mortality. People don’t always die from old age; sometimes it is much worse then that. It was around this time that Shibora started to write her own records for her family.
When Shibora was 17, and about to walk the tables, a dragon came and Searched her and her brother. She’d pretty sure Nilnes agreed to go out of some believed duty. Shibora just thought that becoming a dragonrider would be exciting. After all, who didn’t want to ride a dragon? Plus, she really wanted to meet Golinna, her great-grandfather’s sister. So she went to Tristar Weyr with her brother Nilnes, hoping to Impress.
Shibora ended up Impressing before her brother did. In fact, she wasn’t entirely sure Nilnes would ever Impress, and then he ended up with a bronze. Shibora couldn’t be happier with her blue. On that day, Shibora had been standing looking at the greens. She expected that if she were to Impress at all, it’d be green. A large blue came up to her and introduced himself. {{I’m Tamoith,}} the blue had said. Then he’d let out a piercing keen of hunger. Shibora doesn’t remember much else of those first candlemarks after Impression, except that she was completely content.
Shibora has managed to finish enough of the baking craft recently to get her Journeywoman knots. Though she doesn’t actually do much baking anymore, she felt she should at least finish that much of the craft she’d started. She’s been asked by those that know of her family record keeping why she didn’t apprentice as a harper all those turns ago. Her reply is always the simple truth; she hasn’t a musical bone in her body. While that used to bother her, it doesn’t any longer. She’s quite content with Tamoith and to be living at the Weyr. Now that she and N’nes are older, she does occasionally wish they had a better relationship.
A few days after the Gather the weyrlings in her class were brought in to speak with Denha about choosing their own weyrs. She brought up the idea that she might help with the records; it was something Master Dragonhealer Gila had suggested to her. Denha told her to speak with the Weyrleaders about it, but that it would probably be better if she waited until after graduation. Shibora decided to go along with that, and she chose a weyr right next to the records room.
Shibora and Tamoith managed to make it out of the volcano incident unscathed. She heard about Borna and also grieved; she liked the rider N'nes had been seeing. She could see that N'nes was pulling away from everyone, but there wasn't much she could do. The two hadn't ever been close. She hopes that a move away from the problems of Igen will do him some good.

Dragon information
Name: Tamoith
Age: 5 turn 3 months
Colour: Blue
Weyrling group: Idoreth's
Wing: Wind Breakers
Birthhome: Tristar Weyr
Dam/Sire: Idoreth/bronze Hirazeth
Personality: Tamoith is calm and quiet, at least when it comes to mental communication. He rarely says more than he needs to, even to his rider. However he expresses himself loudly and often audibly. He has a vocal expression for just about every thought that goes through his head. Luckily Shibora has managed to stop him from constantly voicing his every thought, but he still tends to make a lot of noise. Tamoith is a dragon that takes orders very well. When he’s told to do something, he does it. He will complete an ordered task regardless of whether he enjoys it or not, and without complaint. But it has to be an order; Tamoith will debate any suggestion he doesn’t agree with.
Physical description: Tamoith is a harper blue in color. He has darker blue on his belly, but otherwise he is a solid color. He is quite large for a blue, nearly the size of a small brown. He has wings and a tail that are a bit larger than normal for his size.
