Persona information (Updated: November 17, 2010)
Name: K'levan
Age: 27 (Birthdate: 1136.12.17)
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Rank: Searchrider
Birthplace: Nabol Hold
Family: Father: Rhifar, cotholder(raised K'levan as his own son)
Mother: Yanella
Numerous unimportant siblings
Signifigant others: None
Personality: K'levan is a charmer and a showoff who loves being the center of attention. Enthusiastically bisexual, he will try to seduce anyone who catches his fancy, and will even flirt with the old aunties and uncles just for the pure fun of flirting. He is an optimist, though he has an unhealthy tendency to just try to ignore unpleasant things altogether in order to keep his cheerful mood. Similarly, he will shirk any duties that he finds distasteful if he can get away with it. He is very confident in himself, to the point that sometimes it comes across as sheer arrogance, but that confidence is also part of what makes him such a talented rider -- he believes he can do what needs doing, and so just goes ahead and does it with no hemming and hawing. K'levan can be very charismatic when he turns on the charm, but he puts a lot of stock in appearances and often judges a book by its cover.
He's also a bit of a neat freak for the same reason, and keeps himself immaculately groomed and his weyr spotless. He's usually the first to find the good in a situation, and the first to try and get everyone laughing again after a tragedy. He makes a good, loyal friend, and he once had many that he considered his buddies until the illness took them all away.
Directly after the sickness, K'levan was thrown into emotional turmoil. He couldn't understand why so many of his friends had died, and why he hadn't. He had been left mostly alone at High Reaches and had been quite close to just losing it altogether. But once he arrived in Tristar he more or less reverted back to his generally happy nature. He was flirtatious, talkative, and generally cheery. And he was profoundly glad he wasn't the one in charge. As the turns passed and more dragons were hatched and more riders Impressed he really did become his old self again.
However, he has retained some emotional scars from his experience with the illness. K'levan hates being alone, and yet won't let himself become overly fond of anyone else. He has this fear, that he really won't even admit to himself, that anyone he really grows to care for will end up leaving him, just like all his friends at High Reaches. Yet, because of his isolation at High Reaches he can't stand not being surrounded by other people. So he'll almost never end up sleeping alone, but rarely with the same person for very long.
The disaster at Tristar nearly pushed him to the edge, once he discovered just how many people had actually died in the earthquakes and volcano. However, since the disaster wasn't nearly as fatal as the disease all those turns ago, K'levan was able deal with the situation. However, it is even less likely now that K'levan will ever form a lasting relationship with anyone. Yet it's still very unlikely he is ever found alone.
Physical description: K'levan is of average build, healthy and lightly muscled from his work as a dragonrider, though he stands a bit shorter than average. He has a long, expressive face with an angular, slightly jutting jaw and a long, high-bridged nose. He has blue eyes, and his black hair is cut short and always neatly combed (in fact, he keeps a comb on him so he can straighten it out after flying or taking a helmet off). He had acquired the habit of wearing his riding leathers and a scarf all the time because it was just easier in the cold of High Reaches. He had to stop that habit while at Tristar, partially because it was too hot and partially because the habit was too reminiscent of his former home. Instead he wears well-tailored clothing made to accentuate his features.
History: Kalevan was born at Nabol Hold, the second son in a large family. He was a handful as a child, always getting into things, teasing the girls, and wandering off to find new fun things to do. He was a smart lad who did well at his lessons when he focused on them, but had trouble paying attention for long enough to do his best work. As he grew, he developed ambitions -- he just knew he was good enough to do something better than what he saw as "boring" hold work under his older brother, who would most likely inherit, so he set his sights on the crafts.
He was 15 turns old and an apprentice vintner when a Searchdragon for High Reaches picked him out of a crowd of hopeful young people. Kalevan had never given any serious thought to dragonriding -- after all, who ever expected such good fortune? -- but when the opportunity presented itself, he snatched for it with both hands. He didn't Impress that first time, but with visions of greatness in his head and sights set firmly on bronze, he remained on at the Weyr. He had no doubts that he was worthy, and later that same turn, it was not a bronze dragonet which made a beeline for him, but a lithe young blue, the first dragon of his clutch to hatch. Tuegath crossed the sands as quickly as an awkward young dragon possibly could, shouldering still-hatching clutchmates out of the way to make Impression with young K'levan.
They proved to be well-matched, if something of a problematic duo for the Weyrlingmaster. They caught on quickly, but were too active, too easily distracted, and far too prone to showing off. Despite this, they graduated into a fighting wing, and were just starting to really fit in there and learn to contribute properly when the illness hit.
After almost a full turn of living in High Reaches in near-isolation, K'levan was very happy to move to Tristar and reconnect with the remaining dragonriders. It took him awhile, but he can now call this new Weyr home.
K’levan kept himself as far removed from the trial regarding the Weyrleaders as he could. He privately favored the Weyrleader, but he decided not to voice his opinion. He didn’t want to have the responsibility of having to help decide what happened to them on his shoulders. He preferred to keep himself out of it, which he did.
The wings were restructured soon after the trial, and he and Tueg were moved from the Ground Shakers wing into the high altitude wing, Fire Dancers. He and Tueg were quite excited for it; they both like showing off and figured that this would be a good chance to do so. K’levan at first worried that this was a sign that he was getting more responsibilities, so he spoke to L’rai about it. K’levan was reassured, though he was also informed that he’d be a Searchrider now. That was fine with him; it just meant he and Tueg would fly to Holds and Halls when there was a clutch on the Sands.
After the disaster, K'levan and Tuegath were moved to the Wind Breakers wing, which frankly put him at ease. Tuegath wanted to stay with the Fire Dancers and keep showing off, but K'levan was just glad he wouldn't constatly be watched by the Weyrleader now. He really didn't need any more stress.
In the turns after the disaster K'levan though that perhaps moving back to Fire Dancers would be a good thing. However, he isn't planning on asking to transfer. He'd still prefer to avoid as much responsibility and stress as possible, and moving to the Weyrleader's wing would certainly add stress. He really hopes that moving away from Igen and the Holder attacks will serve to relieve even that amount of stress from his life. Maybe he'll get lucky and Thread really won't ever fall again.

Dragon information
Name: Tuegath (TWEG-ath)
Age: 11
Colour: Blue
Wing: Wind Dancers
Birthhome: High Reaches
Sire/Dam: Unknown
Personality: Much like his rider, Tuegath is showy, daring, and confident. He's a little more aggressive than K'levan, though, and while his bad moods are rare, he does have them. He isn't the brightest blue in the world and often acts before he thinks because it's just easier than wasting time trying to understand difficult concepts. He's a brave fellow, though, who won't back down from anything, and it's when K'levan doesn't step up to say "no, this is too dangerous" that they get themselves in trouble with their stunts. Tuegath is a very physical dragon, prone to pushing and nudging and nuzzling, depending on his mood. His body language is easy to read if you just watch him for a while -- he lashes his tail, scratches with his claws, swings his head around... there's a motion for every emotion he has, and he never seems to be sitting still. Tuegath also has the ability to Search, though he and K'levan have never been designated Searchriders.
Physical description: Tuegath is a bright sky blue that's quite eye-catching, with remarkably little variation in color throughout his hide. He just seems to be the same solid blue color all over. He's on the small side for a blue, but he's lithe and agile, with a long body, neck, and almost overly-long tail. His stamina is so-so, but he makes up for it with sheer speed and heart-stopping turns.
