Personality: Jisdol is extremely hard working and driven to succeed. Once he’s set his mind to accomplish something, he simply refuses to fail. He can change his mind, maybe decide not to do something he’s started, but he certainly can’t fail at it. He also enjoys doing work with his hands, if only because he’s always been working with his hands. He also loves being outside. He can’t remember a time he wasn’t either playing or working outside or on a ship. He is also a very practical person, and doesn’t have many ideals. He certainly isn’t someone that would ever be found daydreaming or lounging around. That doesn’t serve any purpose, and he usually only does something for a reason.
Otherwise, Jisdol is mostly laid back and easy to get along with. He came from a relatively traditional family, but doesn’t really believe traditions are necessarily the right way to do things. He and his family abide by traditions more out of habit than anything else. If they don’t do things in the traditional way, what way would they do them? If someone were to point out a better way of doing things, or the lack of logic to a certain tradition, Jisdol would almost certainly just change the way he did things. He and his immediate family all lack imagination, which is really what makes them hidebound.
Physical description: Jisdol stands at 5'8” and is well muscled. He has dark brown hair that he keeps cut close to his head. It doesn’t do to have long hair blowing around during a storm at sea. His eyes are big and a bright and beautiful green. His nose is a bit long for his face, but everything else is well proportioned. Jisdol has very dark and weathered skin, as well as calluses on his hands from spending his life as a Seacrafter.
History: Jisdol was born in Nerat Hold to a long line of Seacrafters. His parents were Seacrafters, their parents were Seacrafters, and his great-grandmother on his father’s mother’s side was a Seacrafter. According to the family, Seacrafters went back even further then that on his mother’s side. He knew how to gut a fish and mend a net before he could put more than a few words together. He spent his entire childhood learning the basics of fishing and sailing, along with his harper lessons. It wasn’t that he particularly enjoyed it so much as it was all he knew. He assumed, as most children do, that everyone lived near the sea and learned these things. Oh sure his harper lessons were about people doing other things, but they were mostly dragonriders. In his childhood mind, everyone was either a Seacrafter or a Dragonrider.
As it came time for him to officially apprentice, he didn’t even have to make a choice. By this time he, of course, knew that there were many other crafts to choose from. However, he couldn’t imagine being anything else. He had been born a Seacrafter; why would he change now? He planned on being the best Seacrafter he could possibly be, hopefully making Master one day. He never could understand why his sister, Nidyn, had chosen to be a Baker instead. At least she had stayed at Nerat, so Jisdol saw her often. Jisdol was there when she was married to another Baker. He's also enjoyed being an uncle to their daughter, though he spends most of this time on a ship.
His family had many pets, mostly felines, and at the age of 15 he was given his own canine. It was a small breed used to catch rodents on a ship. He named the little puppy Squeak, because of the way he squeaked when he was trying to bark. Of course, now that Squeak is 5 turns old, he doesn’t squeak anymore, but the name’s stuck. Jisdol and Squeak were almost inseparable; Squeak even slept in the same bed as Jisdol.
Then, just a few days after Jisdol became a Sr. Apprentice, a dragonrider flew over their home and Searched him. At first he hadn’t wanted to leave, but his parents convinced him he should. If he didn’t Impress he could come back and continue as a Seacrafter. They assured him he would regret it if he didn’t go. After a bit of thought, Jisdol agreed. Unfortunately he couldn’t take Squeak with him. He was a working dog, and would only get bored at the Weyr. Sure there were plenty of rodents to hunt, but he wouldn’t be able to just roam around on his own. Plus, if Jisdol did Impress he was informed he wouldn’t have any time for a canine. So Jisdol said goodbye to his family and Squeak and went to the Weyr to see if he’d Impress.
Turns out Jisdol didn’t Impress his first time at the Hatching, but that was just fine. For awhile there during the hatching he’d hoped he would, but he’s just fine without a dragon. In fact, had he Impressed during that first Hatching, Jisdol probably would have been a bit of a mess. He still hadn't really come to terms with his own sexuality, and ending up in bed with a man during a flight would have really thrown him for a loop.
During the disaster, Jisdol was actually in the bed of a woman, a rider in fact. He was whisked away to Igen rather quickly, which luckily meant he didn't have to see most of what happened. He heard about it later, but at least he didn't have to see it.
He was quite surprised when one of the few eggs that had been saved hatched a green that came running toward him. The green Cherkeyth came right at him and demanded that he feed her now. In those first few moments Jisdol couldn't think of anything except to do everything his Cherkeyth wanted. Some time later he's had to come to terms with the fact that his dragon is a green. He's still not quite comfortable with his own attraction to men, but he's getting better. The fact that Cherkeyth seems to refuse to let dragons with female riders catch her has just made things more interesting.

Dragon information
Name: Cherkeyth
Age: 2 turn 12 months
Colour: Green
Weyrling group: Native Treasures
Wing: Golden Falls
Birthhome: Tristar Weyr
Dam/Sire: Josiath
Personality: Cherkeyth is a proud green, with a personality more like a gold. In fact, she will often tell you that she really is a gold, you just can't tell because her hide looks green. She has to have everything done just the way she likes it. She'll order anyone around, especially her rider. Her temper when things don't go her way is collasal.
Physical description: Cherkeyth is the color of oxodized iron over her whole body. The nobs on her head are slightly darker than the rest of her, but otherwise she's a single color. She's of average size for a green, with a rather long tail. She's quite agile, but has almost no stamina. As such her mating flights are usually quite exciting to see, but they don't last very long.
