Personality: Kat is usually very easy going. She does
have a tendency of becoming very nervous during
certain situations. She likes being around the
dragons and their riders, but is wary of actually
Impressing one for fear of losing them. If Kat starts
to think about her father, she becomes very moody and
she’s hard to snap out of it.
Physical description: She’s got shoulder length dark
brown hair that she usually keeps pulled back. Her
eyes are a deep green that sparkle a goldish color at
certain times. She prefers to wear simple clothes
that don’t get in the way of daily chores. Kat is
always wearing knee-high boots and can usually be
found working with tools.
History: Kat was born as the youngest of 4 children to
Leynora and Katar. She was the only girl among the
children. Because of this, her mother always babied
her. Kat hated this because her brothers would then
tease her. Kat’s father would always stand up for her
and tell her brothers to leave her along. She became very
close to her father. She would go everywhere with
him. She would even go help him when he was busy in
his craft.
By the time Kat was 10 her father was already
teaching her the smith trade. She loved every minute
of it. She listened even better then some of the
actual apprentices. Her father soon took her on as a
full-fledged apprentice.
The worst day of Kat’s life happened during her 13th
Turn. Her father became deathly ill and there was
nothing the Healers could do for him. They tried
everything, but nothing worked. Kat spent every
moment of every day with him. She even refused to
eat. Her mother started to worry because Kat kept
losing weight. Finally, a fortnight later, her father
died; Kat was never the same after that. She still enjoyed
being around people, but she became really quiet. Her
mother didn’t know what to do. Kat even gave up on
the Smith craft. She didn’t want to be a Smith
without her father. Her brothers even treated her
better after their father died.
During her 15th Turn, she went wandering, figuring on
never returning. She didn’t even care if she died
during her wanders. She soon found herself at Tristar Weyr.
Her father had talked highly of dragonriders, so she thought
she’d check it out. Kat was amazed by the magnificent
creatures, although a little wary from the stories she’s
heard of the plague. To her surprise they actually asked her
to stay. Kat quickly agreed, figuring if her father liked the
dragons then they must be okay.
Katleya ended up Impressing little Centreth at her first
Hatching and has never regretted it. There are still times
she worries about losing her green, but she wouldn't trade
Centreth or the friends that she has made at Tristar.
2 Turns after Impressing Centreth she decided to go home and see if her family was still there. With everything that had been happening she wanted to make sure her family was safe. To her surprise she found them and Centreth even said Leyak should be a candidate. She was thrilled to pack her youngest brother up and bring him back to the Weyr with her.
Katleya couldn't believe the devastation after the quake. She couldn't dwell on the people that she lost or she knew she would lose it again just like the day she lost her father. Instead she focuses on how to help and is looking forward to the new Weyr and getting back to normal.
Things only seemed to get worse as Authanth was killed during Fraith's and Tsunath's maiden flight and then 13 riders from the future showed up. She was thrilled though when her brother Impressed to a blue from Authanth's last clutch. The Leadership flight has taken place and now Shayna is Weyrwoman and M'riel is Weyrleader. There is a lot of talk around the Weyr as to what M'riel will be like, but for the moment Katleya is reserving judgment as she doesn't know the man well.

Description; Centreth is slightly smaller than your average green, and has a
slightly smaller than expected wingspan, hindering her stamina further but
making her a true acrobat of the air. The green of her hide is mottled and can
seem changing in a shadowed light, with greens which range from a grass colour
all the way through to a deep pine green at certain points.
Personality; Centreth is a dragon who seems to have a constantly changing
personality, with many of the same facets appearing over and over. She will
boil with interest about the world around her and how things work. Her rider
may well find themselves repeating explainations over and over again. Once
she’s got it though, its stuck.
