Personality: Much like her younger brother, Mitella is very intelligent and can be very persistent. If she thinks someone is taking too long to explain something to her, she'll simply glare or gesture for that person to finish as quickly as possible. Also like her younger brother, Mitella has been known to slap someone on the back of his or her head if she thinks he or she isn't listening or doesn't like his or her attitude.
The Future Green rider also seems to rely mostly on her instinct, or "gut feelings" as her brother would put it, doesn't believe in coincidence, but doesn't completely rule out all of the facts before making a crucial decision. Like her brother, Mitella has her sensitive side as she is very protective of her daughter, shares a deep bond of love and respect with her family, and is very loyal to her wingmates. But unlike her brother who likes to work with his hands on a woodworking project to "clear his head", Mitella prefers sharpening her skills with the longbow, the quarterstaff, and with her twin knives - or, if she thinks no one is watching, dance.
When asked about her experiences under her former Weyrleader compared to her new one, a rare glimpse of genuine relief and devotion can be seen in Mitella. Whether she's relieved that she no longer has to contend with the old leadership, or relieved over the fact her younger brother M'riel is alive and well - or that he's the new Weyrleader of Izuko Island; it's clear that she is very devoted to her brother and will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him...not just because he's her new Weyrleader, but because the two have shared similar experiences as Guards.
Physical description: Mitella, by Pernese standards, is very tall (five-foot-ten) but unlike most Pernese women, has auburn-colored hair with a few stray grayish strands that extends well below her shoulders but usually will keep it swept to the back and one side. Her green eyes are also a rarity as is her build; her athletic yet well-defined frame suggests she enjoys physical activities or has spent a lot of time dancing while growing up. Her light-colored skin, sharp narrow eyebrows that arch down at a slight angle to mirror the other, high forehead and cheekbones, defined chin, graceful nose that bisects the face, and defined lips all accentuate the inherent beauty and athletism this woman seems to possess.
Mitella usually will prefer clothing in earthen tones suitable for working out in the fields, but she loves to dress up for formal occasions; often preferring full-length strapless gowns in shades of green or even in dark colors. She also wears a necklace that bears a simple amber-colored stone.

Mitriel, her brother, ran away from home when she was only seven Turns old, and for many Turns the girl would always look to the horizon, wondering if she would ever see Mitriel again. It was also at that same time when Mitella was taken on as an Apprentice by the Weyr's Master Guard, as the girl seemed to be so genuinely interested in learning how to defend herself (and the fact she got along very well with the Handlers on the night watch.)
As she developed towards maturity, Mitella soon caught the eye of nearly every Handler and Rider in High Reaches, in spite of the fact she was a mere Guardswoman. Granted, she had dallied with men and women alike during her time as a teenager, and even went so far as to take on another young woman as a lover; Mitella didn't mind the attention but rather embraced it as a simple fact of weyrlife. After all, she thought to herself, if she were to become a Rider or Handler one day, she may as well accept there was always the possibility she could wind up under the furs with someone of either gender.
By the time she reached sixteen Turns, the young woman was curious to see a Dragon Hatching. Mitella had never been formally Searched as a Candidate, but as this particular Hatching was taking place the morning after her usual shift, she decided to watch from the Stands. Her eyes lit up as she watched the dragonlings break free from their shells, but was horrified to see some of the Candidates badly mauled as a few of the young dragons crashed madly into the crowd of white-clad young men and women. One dragonling was so badly injured that it gave an agonized keen before disappearing Between; Mitella had never heard such a sad, pitiful cry but found herself in tears. In fact, she was so upset that she failed to pick up on the fact that one tiny Green had made its way over to her in the Stands, looking up at her with rainbow-colored irises. The Guardswoman had never heard a dragon "speak" in her mind before and was somewhat surprised, but Kaith - the Green who came up to her - repeated the question on why Hers was so upset. Mitella didn't know why she was chosen and not any of the other Candidates, but Kaith insisted that she had found her bonded. Thus began a crash course in learning how to take care of a dragon, and adjusting to the life of a Weyrling. Fortunately for the new Green Weyrling, her training as a Guardswoman meant she would do whatever it took to live up to her new expectations.
Mitella's first experience in a Greenflight was rather frightening at first, as she wasn't fully prepared to handle the surge in emotions brought on by Flightlust. To this day she can't recall who won Kaith's maiden Flight, as all she can remember was running from the Flightroom the morning after and making her way to her lover's quarters. Caliel, or "Cali" as the other Greenrider referred to herself, wasn't able to participate in Kaith's Flight, but was able to soothe poor Mitella's worries.
Four Turns later, now a seasoned Searchrider, Mitella was surprised and angry when she found out that her brother Mitriel was indeed alive, but had not kept in touch with any of their family for over twelve Turns. She resented the fact her brother had ran away because he didn't want anything to do with the Dragons, yet was internally grateful that not only was he alive and well, he was a Candidate. Her anger quickly faded away once Mitriel - now M'riel - Impressed to Bronze Oreath, and Mitella felt nothing but joy in her heart and made a bold prediction, albeit a silent one: Her baby brother would be on his way to become a ranking Rider, much like he had risen to such high prominence within the Guards at High Reaches Hold. Mitella's instincts were eventually proven correct - her brother, upon graduation, was asked to become a Wingthird. Five Turns later, Mitella was again proven right as M'riel was promoted to Wingsecond.
But like many others in that time, not even Mitella and Green Kaith knew that Threadfall would make its way towards Pern once more. A'ri vowed he would do whatever it took to find where M'riel had gone, and if necessary, Time into the past and bring him to justice.
The hides that had been discovered in a long-abandoned Weyr gave light to M'riel's whereabouts - and the fact that he had been the Weyrleader of a place known as Izuko Island Weyr. Mitella came forth and volunteered to go into the past to find her brother, but only if her daughter Raine came with her. In reality, the Searchrider had secretly joined forces with her father to not just find M'riel, but to warn him of A'ri's desire of retribution.

She is very acrobatic, extremely agile, and still very fast in spite of her age; she's still able to pull off very tight turns in mid-flight and practically come to a dead-stop before dancing away at a perpendicular angle.
