5.12-The Treasure Box Opens (ANY and/or ALL)

The travelling treasure egg had waited until the opportune moment to announce its readiness to hatch. It appeared to have carefully planned its hatching to a time where only it would get attention.. Authanth’s last clutch had hatched 3 days prior and the hype and excitement had calmed down when the shiny gold egg started to sway from side to side in silence. She hadn’t given any prewarning to her arrival and thus there was no humming to immediate decision to sway from side to side. It was so quiet on the sands at that time that one could hear to knocking within the egg and very carefully notice the impact sites as the dragonet within fought to get out.

It was Tsunath who noticed the knocking as she entered the hatching caverns after wing drills and thus gave the signal to get to the hatching grounds, fast, a loud throaty bugle echoing from the Sands throughout the canyon of the Main Weyr. There was no time to delay, the little gold egg was hatching, and she was hatching now!

By the time everyone had assembled around the hatching sands, the candidates baring their white robes, but not looking their best, a golden leg had thrust its way out of the egg shell, causing little cracks to splinter across the shell, weakening its structure. A second golden limb broke its way through the egg shell, causing the fragile structure to break further, making the escape for the little gold easier this time. Seconds later, the rest of the egg’s shell was pushed away forcefully, leaving behind the creature within standing in its midst, covered in egg goo and small shards of shell.

The gold that had arrived in a display of strength onto the warm sands of Izuko followed most of the other dragons from the future in their basic appearance, she was larger than any gold hatched in this time, that was plain to see, even without any clutchmates to compare her too. She was a picture of strength, a image of good health, her hide a deep burnished gold from snout to tail tip.. and appeared to know exactly what it was she wanted as she prowled over towards the girls gathered on the sands.

Sani had woken from her nap when Tsunath's bugle echoed throughout her area of the Sands and so she slithered her way cautiously to the entrance, keeping to the shadows as much as possible as she tried to see what was going on. She had started humming her own little note to announce the arrival of the next golden queen from her little hiding place between the hubbub of the newest dragonet and that of her little clutch resting peacefully.

It was hard not to know what was happening, but Taenia still refused to attend this hatching.. Authanths had been hard enough but this one.. There had been no excuse making her have to go.. Of that she was thankful. Mac was still encouraged to go though, with her promises that she would be fine without him.. she hadnt felt too well anyway and explained she wanted to sleep.. Walking around at just over 6 months pregnant was difficult.. What didnt help was the size of the baby!! she was larger than ever and much more tired than normal..

Siarie had been thankful for the chance to escape Sai as he tried to pull her aside and talk to her. She'd been able to tell he was unpleased with her. Things had been a bit strained since he found out about her and Rytans friendship and antics.. She had made it to the hatching sands in her robe woth scruffy hair, without Evie.. She was still too angry with her sister to talk to her..

Sade had been in the middle of a lesson when the bugle seemed to shake her eardrums from within. The strings of her gitar twanged angrily as she jumped. "Oh, the little Gold is hatching! Sorry, I must go!"

She told herself as she ran, Itzal following excitedly in her wake, that she was being silly, Surely a Gold would want someone...more feminine, more impressive, more demanding. But she had to try. That egg had caught at her imagination, and, on the off chance that the dragonet did want her, she couldn't leave her waiting. By the time she got her robe on and arrived on the Sands, already a leg was visible. And the creature that emerged from within was a sight to behold indeed. Strong, beautiful and magnificent. Sade made a sound somewhere between a gasp of wonder and a sigh of contentment. Then she grinned, the little thing appeared to know just who she wanted and the young Harper felt herself drawn as tight as a bowstring.

Arkadian heard the bugling as well, and he wondered if the wher clutch was hatching. Well, better go and see. He peeped into the grounds and then turned away before being drawn back in almost against his will. The gold egg was hatching, the little dragon was already free of her egg. He felt tears prick at his eyes as he remembered his own long-ago Impression.

Evie had been sleeping softly when bugle went up. The girl woke with a start and only stopped long enough to pull her robe on. The little gold egg was hatching! Evie glanced around for her sister, but saw that apparently Siarie still didn't want to be around her. Fine. She would deal with that later.

The girl slid into the Hatching Sands and stared in awe as two legs were already visible. Well, this little one apparently didn't want to stay in her shell. She moved over with the other girls to be close to the gold. She smiled as it seemed the little one knew just where she was going. To Evie that seemed like a good thing. Would this be her lifemate? She wasn't sure if she would be a good gold rider, but she would do her best if the little gold thought she was the one.

At Tsunath's bugle, Kolteya turned from her walk to her weyr and sprinted for the Hatching Grounds. Her first reason was because her dragon had practically adopted this egg and her second reason was just in case Tsunath tried to stop anything from happening properly. She arrived just in time to see the egg shatter to reveal it's treasured contents onto the warm Sands. She paused in the entryway to watch the spectacle, Riding Leathers fending off the chill coming from outside the Cavern as the weather was turning toward the next season finally.

M'cleod reluctantly left Taenia back in their weyr as the call went out from Tsunath to announce their little gold's arrival. Had he not been Weyrleader, he would have skipped out on this one, but his duties forced his hand as they had several times already in the past several months and during his Leadership. Duncanth dropped him off at the entrance where he stood next to Kolteya to watch the next events unfold, Duncanth perching in his customary place on a narrow ledge in the Cavern.

D'verado sprinted toward the Sands when Outlath told him the news, hoping to at least make it in time to be there when the new dragonet showed her golden face. He had grabbed a slab of meat from the Weyrling stash to chop up when he got there with his own blade. He was certain that V'yel would be coming as soon as he was able to, but of all the Masters, he seemed to be the closest, Voice fluttering in his wake to be his voice when he was needed.

Eraydine had been in the middle of her studies when the call went out to get to the Sands. She was shrugging her robe on as she ran, her burned feet hardly a thought as she knew she had to be there to give this dragonet every available chance at finding her lifemate as she could. She reached the Sands as the second golden limb made its appearance, still catching her breath and trying to calm her mind as the beauty showed herself in all her power and glory.

Tesheara had been out for a walk exploring her new home when the call went up. She had been deep in thought trying to process all the events that had happened in the last couple of weeks. Washing up on the island, loss of memory, strange voices in her head, seeing her first hatching, the hatching feast and everything in between, not to mention the revalation of being a HAD. Tsunath's call froze her to the spot, it echoed through her mind like a ripple from a stone thrown into a stream, she shivered and shook her head, was she ever going to get used to that.

She smiled though, the overwelming sensation from Tsunath's bugle was that of excitement and urgency. Tesheara couldn't help but feel curious. Turning on her heels she ran as fast as she could towards the sands hoping she would make it there in time. As she got closer she could hear the excited chatter from the other dragons already assembling. Puffing slightly from her run, she made a last ditch effort rounding the corner to the entranceway of the cavern and plowed head long into Kolteya, just missing M'cleod in the process. "My deepist apologies!" Tesh stuttered, getting to her feet she offered her hand to Kolteya to help her up. Looking flustered she continued "I really am most sorry its all my fault I really should of been paying more attention its just with all the dragon chatter going on its hard to concentrate," she paused looking earnestly at Kolteya "oh, she's hatched!" Tesh exclaimed, looking past Kolteya in astonishment.

Kolteya had not expected the sudden impact from someone else and so had stumbled to keep her feet afterward, the person that had run into falling to the ground. As she twirled around to see who it was, she smiled as Tesheara apologized for running into her. “It’s alright,” she said as she took the other young woman’s hand to help her back up to her feet. “Yes, she’s hatched and Tsunath’s a proud mama even though she’s not hers,” she said with another smile. She saw Duncanth’s tumbling fall into flight and then M’cleod was asking her to tell him what happened, leaving in such a hurry that she wondered what was going on. He never left anywhere in that sort of hurry. Her words of confirmation were lost as the Weyrleader was already gone from sight by then.

The gold stopped in front of Sade first, and stuck her face directly in front of the candidates. The golding stared at her, long and hard waiting to see the girls reaction, standing at her full height and puffing out her chest somewhat, the little gold tried to act intimidating. Deciding that Sade was not what she was looking for, the dragonet turned and stalked across the semi-circle to a second girl, flicking out her tail hard against Sade as she moved off.

The second girl she looked at was Eraydine this time she didn’t act intimidating, instead she just sniffed at the girls white robe. She seemed a little less frightening towards this girl in particular. {{No}} She snarled, {{Not right..}} She huffed as she turned sharply away again and stalked across the sands, obviously getting impatient, she walked past the next three girls without even a sideways glance, not even appearing to acknowledge their existence. She came to stop in front of Evie next, a complete sudden stop, as if she had found something of interest to her. She stared at the girl in the same manner as she had Sade.. slightly crouched in her stance as if to pounce on the girl.

Evie stood rotted to the floor. She wasn't sure what to expect from this little gold as she watched the gold stopped at different girls. She hadn't been afraid at the last Hatching, but this little gold threw off a bit of intimidation even at a young age. The young girl stood up straight as the gold stopped in front of her and acted like she was going to pounce. She couldn't get her feet to cooperate at the moment to run and was stuck in place.

Relieved she had done no lasting damage to herself or Kolteya, she stepped aside and watched in awe at the events unfolding on the sand. A half smile crossed Tesh's face as she watched the little gold move between the candidates. "Impatient little thing isn't she." Tesh mused half to herself. She couldn't help but smile at the little golds irritation. It was rather commical, although she was glad it was not she that was being stared down nose to nose by a dragon, even if she had only just hatched.

Kolteya smiled and turned with Tesheara after the Weyrleader's hasty dismissal to watch as the gold stalked the Candidates, looking for her Rider. For a few moments there, she was reminded of her Impression to her Tsunath. She saw a fair amount of similarity in the way this little gold was quite intimidating in her ways of finding her Rider. "She reminds me of Tsunath," Kolteya said in observance to Tesheara.

Eraydine watched as the goldling stared at Sade, then came to her, but she was not stared down for some reason. Why, she could not understand, but maybe, just maybe this one wanted her? As the gold stalked off, the Harper heaved a sigh. Once again, she was that close to a dragonet and once again, in the same sevenday, she was left Standing. She kept her eyes trained on the dragonet, waiting and hoping that maybe she would come back and bespeak her, but her heart sank as she watched Evie get stared down next.

R'en heard the bugling noise coming from the Hatching Sands, and it took him a moment to figure out what was going on. Then it dawned on him. The Gold Egg that had been stolen from their own time was about to hatch!

Grabbing his satchel and slinging it over his shoulder, R'en was on his way to the Hatching Sands to ensure none of the candidates - all female, he knew - would be hurt by the newly-hatched Gold dragonet. There would be no telling just how many girls would be injured today, and for once the Healer decided not to tease any of them. It wasn't so much as him needing to stay focused, but more of a subtle threat from his two weyrmates. Aquila was a highly trained engineer of sorts, Ekaterina was a Trader by birth. Both women had the ability to make his life absolutely miserable, if not find a way to really make him pay for his habit of flirting with other ladies. Not that he wanted to bear the brunt of their combined wrath, but his own instinct was telling him there was some "internal changes" going on with Aquila and Ekaterina both. "Internal changes", indeed. A euphemism to be sure, but for some reason the warning M'riel gave him as he had hung around the quarters shared with Ekaterina back at the Welcoming Island was now coming back to haunt him.

R'en arrived just as the Gold hatched, and waited as she made her move towards the Candidates. The dragonet flicked her tail against one of the girls, and the Healer winced. He knew he would have to move soon.

M'riel likewise was already in motion when he heard the bugling noise. He had missed out on the last Hatching and the subsequent feast, but his curiosity was getting the better of him. Oreath, he instructed. Have our people report to the Hatching Sands. That Gold Egg Zalleah and T'rain took is about to hatch. By "our people", of course, M'riel meant all twelve Riders that had came with him from the future. He was relieved to know the Gold survived the cold of Between. Now, he hoped Zalleah and T'rain would be able to forgive themselves for their actions. He would also remind them both of that lesson, during his usual "pep talk". He heard Oreath give his acknowledgement, then the order to have the others report to the Sands.

As soon as he arrived, the Bronzerider watched as the Gold hatched - a large, deep burnished gold-colored dragonet, M'riel noted - and made her way towards the girls who were hastily assembled. M'riel knew it took a special kind of girl to Impress to a Gold. He silently prayed that special kind of girl was among those Standing, otherwise this whole mission to come back into the past would take an unexpected turn for the worse.

We are to report to the hatching sands came the sudden mind speak of T'rain's brown, catching the young future-timer off guard. He'd been enjoying time exploring the surrounding of his new home, now that they were able to. The golden one hatches and T'rain knew understand M'riel's summons. T'rain was inwardly relieved to hear that the gold had hatched safely.. that at least was a good thing amongst all of the mess..

Zalleah hadn't felt up to exploring or even seeing her friends. She had curled up with T'rain at night, but barely spoke. She still felt awful for all the trouble she had caused.

Mine, stop sulking. Oreath wants us at the Sands. The gold hatches, Eliath said cheerily. The green wasn't at all effected by what had happened.

Zalleah really didn't want to go, but she knew she couldn't go against M'riel. She sighed softly and got off the couch, making her way to the Hatching Sands. She stayed in the back though away from everyone so she didn't get in trouble.

[Katlyn]

Il'ran's Salmalinth passed on the message about the gold hatching, though he already knew from his bronze's humming. Still he continued on his way to the Hatching grounds, not about to not disobey his wingleader's orders.

Fraith and Ardalae were there quickly when word was spread about the gold's hatching, Fraith landing a bit away from Tsunath and Ardalae going to join Kolteya.

Lorina, however, was on the sidelines anxiously. It was too late now to pull a certain candidate from the sands. She stared at that particular girl, sighing. With any luck, the gold would pick someone else. And if that happened, that particular girl would not be standing until she was a few turns older. That much she was convinced off.

Tria was on the sands with the other girls, though she didn't expect the gold to pay her much attention.
