Personality: Giriey is very traditional about everything, except when it comes to romantic relationships and child-rearing. She doesn’t believe that all women should have kids. And though she believes it’s completely fine that she loves women, she is still a big believer in monogamy. She also finds it crude to make sexual jokes. She just doesn’t do it. She is polite and proper. She also loves food, both making and eating it. The death of Nonaie hit her hard, taking a lot of the joy she had in life.
Physical description: Giriey has dark brown hair, nearly black skin, and dark brown eyes. Her physical and facial features are quite plain looking, though not ugly. She’s a bit overweight and medium height.
History: Giriey was born to two bakers in Nerat. At the age of 12, when it came time to apprentice, she chose to follow in her parents’ footsteps and join the baking craft. She walked the tables at around 18 and by that time she realized she preferred women. She spent the beginning of her journeymanship at Igen Weyr. She moved to Benden Weyr around the age of 23-24, where she met Nonaie. They ended up falling in love. It’s quite likely she had other relationships before Nonaie.
The Plague was devastating and many of Giriey’s friends at the Weyr lost their dragons and sometimes their lives. Giriey and Nonaie moved to a small hold near Bitra after the first turn of the Plague. Then after Tristar was renamed and the two clutches from Ista and Igen lay there, the two of them realized that dragonkind had survived. They moved to Tristar soon after the Phoneix Fire & Phoneix Smoke hatching.
When Giriey’s niece Amdalga was Searched, Giriey made sure to help Amdalga get accustomed to life at the Weyr.
In the earthquake that destroyed Tristar, Nonnaie was killed. It took quite awhile Giriey to pull her life back together. She is still reeling emotionally from that incident.
