25.10 - Fetching her back (Shayna/Randy)

The day had turned into a disaster.. what had started as a good omen, the young gold Fraith finally rising had turned into a disaster as Tsunath had taken to the skies.. and Authanth's death.. harper Farley was shelled shocked.. but not as badly as the rest of the weyr, he expected!

He'd been caught up in the passion of the gold's himself, with his rocky relationship with Randy slowly comming back into the present, they'd taken the opportunity to spend some time together under the influence of dragonlust from the golds..

..but as soon as things had obviously started to go wrong Farley had backed away, someone needed to pay attention and be on call, and with all the gold rider's and bronze rider's involved he'd taken it upon themselves.. Mere seconds after the dragons had stopped keening, he'd sent Jair to find Josiath and Shayna.. the weyr would need their senior gold pair.. and Shayna needed to be told.

"I've sent Jair to get Shayna" He told the pretty red head (although Randy wouldn't agree with that description he was sure.. she classed herself as 'strawberry blonde' ) he knew that Randy would be just as upset as the rest of the weyr, the senior queen was a very important figure in the weyr.. would shayna already know?

He whipped away a tear from Randy's cheak, planting a tender kiss there instead and turned his attention back to his girl, it would probably do them both some good to continue with the planned love making, but at the same time.. did he need to be with Shayna? They owed it to the weyr to be supportive.. and when there were very few other people to do so.. it was frustraiting, to say the least.. Farley wanted, needed this.. he felt it would have helped their relationship back towards the heathy side.. for things certainly were not smooth running at the moment,

Randy had been slightly surprised when Farley had first come to her during the gold flight. But truth be told, she was glad he did. She wanted their relationship to get back to how it used to be. Although she wasn't sure if it ever would.

The young wher handler sat up straight, still in Farley's arms when the keening started and Rask joined in. She trembled a bit as Farley told her that he had sent Jair after Shayna. "Good idea," she whispered.

Randy trembled a bit. This was awful. What would they do? How could such a good day turn so bad? It didn't make any sense. She leaned into Farley's touch, needing him right that minute. She wished they could forget what had just happened and go back to what had been interrupted, but she wasn't sure if they could or not. Or if Farley would even really want to. Had it just been the flightlust that had brought him here in the first place? She was still leery.

Shayna looked up in surprise when Jair appeared. She had been enjoying some time with R'bao and hadn't yet heard from her gold what was happening. Although it wouldn't be long before Josiath added her own keening. "Jair?" she asked when she saw the little bronze.

((Nope, I was fine with that. I'm definitely up for doing more posts. I think Randy and Farley definitely need to get back on the right track. and I'm sure Leyran is still confused))

The little bronze flit chirped at Shayna and broadcasted a picture of the flight finished, and the sense of sadness.. Shayna would know it was safe to return now.. with his message delivered, the flit returned to his pets side..

"I think we're going to be needed, Randy" He said, his voice serious but his eyes sorry. "Lets catch up later, if we can" He said, giving her a soft kiss on the cheak.

Shayna gasped and covered her mouth. Jair gave her the image just as Josiath started to keen. The gold rider was instantly on her feet and gathering her clothes. "R'bao!" she called, racing to her gold.

Tears slid down Randy's cheeks. Not just from what had happened, but also the chance her and Farley had just lost out on. "I know," she said quietly, moving away from him. She kept her back to him as she grabbed her jacket. "We can try," she said softly, not knowing if they would be able to or not.

He smiled and reached for her hand, grabbing it and placing a kiss on it first. "I'll got tell Shayna all that has happened, and then i'll come find you... where will you be?" He asked.

Randy let him take her hand. She was still a bit disappointed about what had happened. She nodded. "Good idea," she said softly. "I'll be with Leyran at my weyr," she answered.

Farley smiled and got up, leaving Randy alone. "I'll catch you later then.." He said a moment later, turning back to look at her before turning around and running out to the weyrbowl, waiting for the large form of Josiath to appear.

Randy nodded and headed for her weyr. She'd be there if he really wanted to find her. If not, well, at least she would be with Rask and Leyran and would be available if she was needed.

Josiath appeared over the Bowl a short time later and landed easily on the ground. Shayna slid down her gold's shoulder, looking a bit frazzled. She was still finding the news hard to accept.

Serguth, curled up as close as he was allowed to Josiath, joined her keen, looking to his rider as Shayna cried his name. The lanky blue got up and stretched, knowing that His would be in a haste to get back to the Weyr.

Their time had been wonderful while golden Fraith Rose for her maiden flight. Tsunath had shown no signs at all, so that idea was the furthest from his mind. What had been on his mind was the romance that he had with Shayna. Getting the news from his scrawny blue, he hurriedly gathered his own clothing and dressed to be able to fly Between back to the Weyr.

Just behind Josiath, Serguth appeared and landed just after her. R'bao quickly dismounted to step up to Shayna. He was there to give as much support as he possibly could to her.

Josiath looked over at Serguth. She liked the little blue and didn't mind him being close. Right now she needed the support too as her rider's mind was in a turmoil. The gold couldn't believe what was going on.

Shayna closed her silvery eyes and shuttered clear through. This couldn't possibly be happening. Authanth couldn't be gone. And the other two golds were down? She shook her head. No no no! Maybe if Josiath had still be close she could have helped. Tears slid down her cheeks and she turned to bury her face in her mate's shoulder. She didn't know what to think at the moment, but she knew she had to get herself together because as of right now she was the senior goldrider.

R'bao gave Shayna all the comfort he could possibly manage in a time like this. "I'll be wherever you need me to be, Love," he told her, letting her know that he would indeed be present whenever she needed him. Serguth stayed mellow and quiet, Mik resting on his back as well. The pudgy brown was not hovering near his Pet at this dreadful time, but near his Cousin, being mellow with the dragon while his Pet handled that gold's Pet.

Shayna lifted her eyes, her normally silvery eyes looking dull. "Thank you," she whispered, still clinging to his jacket. "I can't help thinking things may have been different if I had gotten back sooner." She hiccuped a bit from crying so much.

Josiath crooned softly to comfort her rider. The gold didn't like how upset her rider was and she didn't know what to do to help.

"I don't think there was much anyone could have possibly done," R'bao replied. Two golds had Risen to Mate for their first times and the one sane gold tending her clutch tried to separate them, obviously sacrificing herself to do so. Authanth had always been a noble dragon like that. "Let's just try to get things settled down first, then we'll see what we can do after that," the bluerider said, looking about to see what all was going on. Obviously the Weyr was in a chaotic mode after that flight.

In her heart she knew he was right, but she just couldn't shake the feeling that she hadn't been there to help. How could all of this had happened? Why hadn't anyone noticed both golds were ready to rise? She buried her face briefly as she tried to get herself under control. It wouldn't help anyone to see her like this. She needed to be strong for the Weyr.

Harper Farley ran over the moment he noticed the large gold appear from between.. The weyrs inhabitants were in a bit of a state.. Wondering around wide eyed and in shock. "I'm sorry Shayna" he said putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. You should probably go to Authanth.. She didn't make it between" the harper warned, that would be a hard enough site for anyone to see "Jair can give you the where to go image.." he said. "i'll stay here and help out.." he indecated the riders.. Afterall he didn't have a dragon and thus was not hit by this as badly..
