Personality: N’nes is, in a word, practical. He is also a very serious person, who has a very strong sense of duty. He does what he needs to do, and has never complained about it. In fact, N’nes has never complained in his life. He doesn’t understand people who complain, and has no sympathy for them. He places facts above any emotion, so he doesn’t understand how people could let their own physical or emotional discomfort affect their accomplishment of tasks.
N’nes also values dependability and loyalty. He does not give his friendship lightly, but he also doesn’t take it back lightly. And if he has said he will do something, he will do it. N’nes does not go back on his word. He will finish anything he’s started, particularly if he is duty-bound to finish the task. This does mean that sometimes he has more work than he has time, and he can occasionally get bogged down and stressed. But as a perfectionist, N’nes will always complete all the things he has to do, regardless of whether he’s stressed.
He has a hard time expressing his own emotions, and an even more difficult time reading emotions in others. N’nes just doesn’t pick up on all the intricate ways in which people show their emotions. He will trust people to speak about their emotions if they want a reaction to them. As N’nes very rarely speaks about his own emotions, he assumes other people prefer not to show their emotions either. He also tends to take other people’s efforts for granted. He expects the same dependability, perfectionism, and practicality from everyone else that he expects from himself. So he can often fail to praise those who deserve it.
Borna's death affected him deeply. He took a long time in his grief and the wounds haven't ever truly healed. N'nes has cut himself off from everyone emotionally. He's just afraid to open himself to the possibility of feeling such grief again.
Physical description: N’nes has broad shoulders, a broad chest, and a muscular build. When someone looks at N’nes, the word agile most assuredly does not come to mind. He stands at just under 6’ tall. He keeps his dirty blonde hair cropped short, as is appropriate for a rider. His eyes are a light brown and his skin would be quite pale if he weren’t living in the south, so it remains constantly tan. He has sharp features and a nose that is a bit long for his face.
History: N’nes was born Nilnes, the third and last child to a pair of farmers at Benden Hold. He was a fraternal twin, his sister Shibora having been born just before he was. The pregnancy and birth left his mother Nilbora anemic. This left her quite weak, and she ended up contracting a fever sickness that was spreading through the Hold shortly after their birth. Though she recovered from it all, she remains susceptible to illness. Whenever her children got sick, Nilbora would fall ill too.
Although everyone in his immediate family were farmers, Nilnes knew that his extended family was filled with vinters who were based at the Vinter Crafthall near Benden. When Nilnes was a child, and the work on the farm had been finished, he would often wander over to the Vinter Hall to find his cousins. They all played together often. Nilnes and his sisters didn’t exactly get along, so he preferred the company of his cousins. He became a particular friend to his first cousin Warda, who was less than a turn younger than he was.
When it came to choose a craft, Nilnes nearly chose the Vinter craft, just so he could spend more time with Warda. However, Nilnes had absolutely no ability as a vinter. He was a very able farmer, though. So at the age of 13, Nilnes apprenticed as a farmer. He still spent as much time as he could with his cousin Warda, but both became quite busy with their crafts and grew apart.
When the Plague hit, Nilnes knew that he had extended family at some of the Weyrs and that some of them would lose their dragons. He’d met his father’s cousin, Sh’dar, on more than one occasion. When the news came that Sh’dar’s dragon had died, and that Sh’dar had quickly followed, Nilnes was shocked. He’d never been faced with the death of anyone he’d known before then. It was one of the few times in his life that Nilnes has ever shed tears.
But life goes on, and when Nilnes was 17 turns old, and nearly a Journeyman, a dragon and his rider Searched him and his sister Shibora. Nilnes knew his duty to the Weyrs, and so he agreed to Stand. His sister Shibora agreed too, but Nilnes doubted it had anything to do with duty. He didn’t Impress, but he did meet another Candidate named Borna. She was so very different from anyone else he knew, and this peaked his interest. Nilnes instantly fell for her, and within a turn the two were an exclusive couple.
Though the Farmer Craft is not well suited to the Weyr, Nilnes was able to do enough to eventually get his Journeymen knots. While he was a Candidate he continued studying as best he could. He even managed to grow a little plot of his own at the Weyr. His twin sister, Shibora, did eventually Impress a blue. Though Nilnes wished he would Impress, he wasn’t jealous of her. He was just happy he was at the Weyr with Borna.
Then, just a month before Nilnes was to turn 22, and thus be too old for Candidacy, he Impressed. On the day, Nilnes was standing back from everyone else, more as part of the audience than a candidate. He’d become used to the routine, and figured he knew what to expect. Nilnes was quite shocked when a little bronze dragonet, looking around him as though lost, said in his mind {{Mine!}} Nilnes ran toward him, and the bronze came toward him. {{I’m Cantath, and I’m hungry,}} the little brown said. Then, worried that Nilnes, now N’nes, was so far from everyone else, Cantath had added, {{Are you okay, Mine? You are too far from everyone else.}} N’nes burst into laughter, one of the few times he’s ever done so, and he and Cantath joined the other newly Impressed pairs.
N’nes completely stopped the Farmer Craft and devoted himself to becoming a dragonrider. The only unfortunate consequence of this was that he and Borna were separated. The two still spent as much time together as possible during N'nes' weyrlinghood.
He watched with Borna’s family as she Stood at Authanth’s second clutch. He didn’t really care which color Borna Impressed; he just wanted her to be happy. When a green came toward her and she Impressed to it, he actually exclaimed in excitement.
During the volcano at Tristar, N'nes and Cantath were able to help transfer people to Igen and to safety. It was while he was doing this that Borna died. He never figured out exactly what happened, but it didn't really matter. He was depressed for a long time after that disaster. However his duties as the Wingsecond for the Ground Shakers wing forced him to move on. He has kept himself busy, keeping an emotional distance between himself and everyone else. N'nes won't let himself fell that sort of pain again.

Dragon information
Name: Cantath
Age: 4 turn 4 months
Colour: Bronze
Wing: Ground Shakers
Weyrling group: Irish Deities
Birthhome: Tristar Weyr
Dam/Sire: Gold Josaith
Personality: Cantath is a kind dragon; he worries about those around him, particularly when someone is hurt, and is very good at remaining calm in times of need. When Cantath matures, he will be an asset among the healers where he may use his strengths to their advantage. However, his weakness is that he doesn’t know when to stop, and will therefore do well with a strong rider able to tear him away when he has done more than enough. However, Cantath has a pure hatred of anything harmful and will take it upon himself to protect his 'family' (which may extend to anyone!) from anything he deems necessary.
Physical description: Cantath is a handsome bronze dragon, that isn't overly muscled but neither his he overly lean. He can’t either be classed as a well defined dragon for he isn't overly well proportioned. For a bronze he is small in both height and length but his hide is bright and solid and attracts most attention.
