Umm...sorry, Navy coming out in that whole WARNORD thing...*coughs*
ANYWAY:
This is a warning that ProBoards is going to be changing their system soon. They're upgrading to what they're calling v5 and from what I can tell there may be some serious changes.
What does this mean for us?
Well...this week's coding issue with the collapse/expand thing (that I'm still working on) may not be our last coding issue. It's possible that some of the codes we currently have in place may be incompatible with this new version.
Kendrall and I have been talking about it. We'll be working something out if that happens. The forced conversion is said to take some place in the few first months of the new year. Proboards has already come out and said that no forums will be allowed to stay in the current version and all will be converted within a month or so of the new version being released.
As the next few weeks progress, I'll probably be setting up a second test forum to see if things convert over to v5 well and what needs changing to keep us up in running. I will probably also stop making changes to our current forum until I know what all will carry over and what won't.
Additionally, I'll be researching into this new version to see what changes we'll have coming our way. This is what I already know:
They're force changing the account system. With this new system, everyone will be forced to change their log-in to their email. Supposedly this is so they can join all your forum accounts into one interface with easy access. Time will tell.
I'll let you know as I discover more.
