21.12-Extended Family Reunion(Shayna, M'riel?...)

Since the chaos that consumed R’bao after Josiath’s Flight to make Shayna Weyrwoman, the Watchrider had decided to make a bold move to ensure Shayna’s happiness and hopefully show her that he still cared deeply for her despite M’riel’s barrier between them now. Though Sanyara was much too young to be away from her mother for very long, the bluerider had taken it upon himself to take Venteran with him to find a certain two people that were greatly desired in so many ways left unsaid: Shayna’s parents back in Fort Hold. He would have brought his own mother to the Weyr, but she was unable to leave her post at Telgar Hold and so had settled for random visits from her son and her grandson. Yet, R’bao’s intentions were pure and only of the best as he arranged for the little meeting to happen at dinner that night.

He knew that Shayna had been thinking of going to the evening meal for the first time since their daughter had been born and so he hoped that the meeting of relatives would happen there, having not forgotten to include Hya and T’ryern’s well being in the idea as well. It was an extremely happy Venteran and two very proud grandparents that R’bao managed to bring to the Weyr that evening. Sure, he had not fully cleared the visit with M’riel and Shayna, but that was because it was meant to be a great surprise. Both Anya and Shintar were able to stay for a few days or longer and so they would be about the Weyr for a while and probably staying in either R’bao’s weyr or in the Guest Quarters up on the Plateau.

As the evening meal came, R’bao led the Weaver and Tanner along with carrying Venteran to the Dining Caverns where he sure hoped that Shayna would be present. Even though they had beaten the Weyrwoman there, the bluerider knew that she was coming after having Serguth drop the hint of a surprise awaiting Josiath’s Rider in the Dining Caverns a little while prior. They all got their meals and sat down to eat, laugh, catch up some more, and wait for the woman who they were to surprise. T’ryern knew of their arrival as R’bao knew not to drop surprises on the re-Impressed Rider and so he was expected as well as Hya who Serguth had hinted to her green about a surprise lying in wait for her, too. R’bao sure was hoping for one great, happy family reunion here.

Venteran had been thrilled to meet his grandparents. Not to mention he got to spend time with his father that way. The boy couldn't have been happier. And now his mommy and daddy would together too. This night was looking up for the boy. He sat happily on his father's lap, chattering excitedly. "When will mommy be here?" he asked for the tenth time. It was easy to see how excited he was.

T'ryern had been shocked when R'bao had told him about finding their parents. He hadn't seen his parents since Ryiath had died. And now he had Erosth and a weyrmate and a son. That was going to be a lot for his parents to take in he was sure. "Lira?" he asked, looking around for his mate. "Are you sure you're alright with going to dinner with me?" The blue rider wasn't usually too far from the green rider. Between Erosth and Lira most days the blue rider was actually pretty level. Today was one day he really didn't want to lose it.

Hya was confused by Sergurth's words to Quarth. What could the blue possibly mean? Well, she had to eat anyhow, so there was no reason to wait any longer. Her stomach was growling and telling her to get moving. The green rider headed for the Dining Cavern, looking around for R'bao when she stepped inside. Her eyes widened when she finally spotted the blue rider and two people that she hadn't seen in ages. Well, not since she was still a young teen. She quietly made her way over to the table and slid into an empty chair. "Um, hi," she said softly, glancing at R'bao.

"Aunt Hya!" Venteran cried happily.

Shayna was determined to get to dinner that night. She was tired of being cooped up in her weyr. She wanted the rest of the Weyr to know that she was alright. And she couldn't let them know that if she stayed in her weyr. Besides, Josiath had told her something about a surprise that R'bao was planning and the gold rider was very curious. She knew that R'bao had been managing to spend more time with Venteran, but she had no idea where they went to. The Weyrwoman carefully braided her hair back before straightening out her long skirt and long sleeve top. She grabbed a cloak as well before going to pick Sanyara up. She wasn't sure what M'riel was up to, but she was getting hungry and she wanted to get moving around a bit.

Sanyara snuggled against her mother as Shayna wrapped the cape around both of them better. It took a lot longer to get to the Dining Cavern then what she had hoped, but at least she was there. She nodded to a few of the riders as she stepped inside. She got quite a few surprised looks and she was now very glad that she had managed to get down here. She looked around for R'bao and soon spotted him and Hya. She didn't notice the other two at the table just yet as she slowly made her way over to the table. "Hey R'bao," she said with a bright smile. She had missed the blue rider. She looked over as she heard a chair squeak and her knees nearly buckled. "Mama? Daddy?" she whispered.

R’bao chuckled at Venteran’s enthusiasm over the little get-together and said, “Soon, buddy. She’ll be here soon.” He took a bite of a meatroll that he had gotten and looked at the boy’s plate with a teasing smile, saying, “You better eat those tubers. They’ll help you get strong.”

Lira turned from changing out of her riding gear into a simple dress that she commonly liked to wear behind the curtain that separated where they lay at night and where they changed, not fully comfortable with giving the bluerider a glimpse of her toned body whenever just yet. “I don’t mind, T’ryern. I’d rather be there for you anyway and it’ll let Erosth and Lluvaith stay cuddled on the ledge for the evening better,” she answered him with a smile. He did worry a lot, but she never minded it as she had been his mentor and now their dragons had decided that they should be a little more which helped the both of them in their struggling lives to function more normally by Weyr standards. Once she was finished, she stepped into the main part of the weyr as she readjusted the golden knots on her wrist, then released her dull black hair from its bun that she put it in when riding her tiny green, the bottom half uncurling to touch her waist while the top remained secured by its normal plait. “I’m ready if you are,” she said, giving her mate a smile, a touch of the cheery woman that was there when Hylanth still graced the skies.

R’bao smiled at Hya’s shy seating, then chuckled at Venteran’s words. The lad was far from shy, that was for certain. “I hope you like your surprise, Hya. I’d have gotten Ry’an here, too, but he’s still in quarantine at the moment,” he told the greenrider with a cheerful smile. It was mere moments later that Shayna arrived and the bluerider gave her a welcoming smile before his best surprise ever became apparent with Shintar’s movements.

Shintar stood, his chair squeaking from his movement, and circled the table to be nearer to not only Hya, but also Shayna. The Tanner gave them both a huge smile, giving Shayna a gentle hug so as not to squish his granddaughter in the process, then giving Hya a kiss on the forehead since she was seated. “It’s so wonderful to see you both! And well, I see!” he said cheerily, stepping away just enough to take all three of them in. “We must catch up while we eat. It’s been far too long since we’ve seen you and we have a new family member, too!” It was obvious that the muscled man was very happy to see his daughters, but he would wait as patiently as he could until he could hold his granddaughter in his arms. There was still one missing, but he had been told of his Dragonless son’s plights and so knew that there was no rushing the now re-Impressed Rider.

Venteran looked down at his plate and made a face. "But daddy," he whined, but then smiled brightly. "I be big and strong like you?" he asked, picking up one of the tubers.

The young green rider nodded. "I love it. I just can't believe it," she admitted, a smile now on her pretty face. It had just taken her by complete surprise and she hadn't been sure how to react. She smiled a bit. "I'm sure they'll get a chance to meet Ry'an," she said. And there was no mistaking the boy was T'ryern's son. They looked like mirror images of each other. Hya turned when she heard her sister's surprised voice.

Sanyara cooed softly as Shintar hugged Shayna close and Hya as well. The baby opened her eyes and looked up at her grandfather. "How did you get here?" she asked, hugging her father close before her mother got up to hug both of her daughters as well. Shayna was still in shock as Anya gently took Sanyara in her arms so Shintar could hug his oldest child easier. "I'm so glad to see both of you," Shayna whispered, hugging her father tightly now that Anya had taken her grandchild. The gold rider smiled over at R'bao. "How did you ever do this?" she asked the blue rider.

T'ryern smiled when Lira stepped out from behind the curtain. The two were still getting used to living with each other, but it seemed to be working well. They both seemed to have a lot more happier days now then they used to. He actually chuckled a bit. "Oh I'm sure Erosth isn't in any hurry to move. I can hardly pull him away from Lluviath," he said affectionately, hugging Lira's shoulders. He held his arm out for her to take as they walked down to the Dining Cavern. They stepped in just in time to hear his mother ask who Ry'an was. "Ry'an's my son, mom," he answered for them, causing everyone to look over.

R’bao smiled and nodded to his son. “Yes, you’ll get big and strong just like me,” he said to satisfy the lad’s mind. Smiling at Hya’s words, the bluerider could not feel better about his surprise. He had worked hard for this one and it looked to be paying off nicely.

Shintar grinned and returned a stronger hug around his oldest daughter once his wife had taken their granddaughter. “R’bao brought us here, Shay. He said you couldn’t come to us, so he offered to bring us to you. It’s been far too long since we’ve seen you,” he said, glad that his eyes beheld a safe, sane, and living young woman that the Plague did not tarnish.

Lira smiled, having taken T’ryern’s arm after slipping on a jacket to fend off the chilly corridors that led to the Dining Caverns from their low-level weyr. It was better than a higher level for numerous reasons, but it was not quite the huts tucked tightly along the canyon walls that held other dragons and their Riders. Lira remained quiet, but kept a smile on her face, knowing that T’ryern was both concerned and glad to be seeing his parents after all this time, but she was going to be there for him.

R’bao smiled and was about to answer how he had managed to bring in Shayna’s parents when he heard T’ryern’s voice and turned to see the usual pair approaching them. They were the rocks that each other needed when their dragons were not available to them and he was glad that they were not among the disheartened Dragonless folk that wandered about the Weyr, doing simple tasks to keep them grounded. “Ry’an Impressed at the last Hatching and he’s stuck in isolation until next month,” the watch rider provided about the Weyrling that could not be present for their little meeting. It was still too soon for him to be wandering around in his free time.

Venteran grinned broadly before settling down to eat his tubers. Thankfully the boy was always happy and easy to keep that way. Hya smiled at her nephew. She couldn't be happier at the moment. So many things were happening. And so far they were all good. She hoped that it continued that way. And having her parents there was only going to make it better.

Sanyara stayed snuggled in her grandmother's arms as Shayna leaned against her father. She had missed her parents so much. "No, I haven't been able to do much recently. This is the first time I've been out of my weyr since Sanyara was born," she admitted. Things had been rough for her. The birth had been quite an ordeal and she was still weak, but happy. She stayed snuggled against her father though, not wanting to move yet.

T'ryern was thankful that Lira had agreed to come with him. He hadn't seen his parents since he had lost Ryiath and he knew he had probably worried them. It was good to have them here now even if he was still a bit on the down side. With Lira though he seemed to have more good days then bad. "R'bao's right. He should hopefully be getting out of isolation soon," he said, glad that today had been a good day for him.

"You have a son?" Anya asked in surprise, walking over to hug her son. "That is great news," she said, smiling at Lira. "And this beautiful young lady is?" she asked, looking pointedly at her son to answer.
